Our Story

Our story, our purpose

At the time, most wellness spaces felt expensive, exclusive, and closed off. We wanted to build the opposite - something open, calming, and shared. A place to slow down and feel better, together.

Since then, we’ve grown across London, with outdoor saunas now in Hackney, Stratford, Camberwell, Peckham, and Bermondsey - and Walthamstow coming soon.

As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), we’re committed to making authentic sauna and cold plunge experiences accessible to everyone. Inspired by European sauna traditions, we’ve created inclusive, sober spaces where people can connect and enjoy the proven benefits of steam bathing.

All income is reinvested into offering free and concession sessions for NHS workers, low-income residents, and local community groups - as well as into sustaining and expanding our sites. We also run wellbeing and creative events at cost and work with healthcare providers to offer free access through the UK’s first-ever social prescribing sauna programme.

Our mission is growing, and we’re excited to keep building spaces where people can come together - to slow down, feel better, and reconnect.

Making Saunas More Accessible

At Community Sauna Baths, we believe that everyone should have access to the benefits of saunas and cold plunge regardless of income, background, or ability.

1. Concession
Pricing

We offer reduced prices for:

people on lower incomes
students
people with access needs
over-65s
NHS staff & Blue Light Card holders

2. Discounted
Community Sessions

We host dedicated sessions for underrepresented groups, including Trans Sauna nights, Mamma Swim (peer support sessions for mums with babies), and For Brothers That Talk (wellbeing sessions for black men).

3. Social Prescribing
Programme

We partner with the NHS, Primary Care Networks, Care4Calais, and Latin American Women’s Aid to provide 10-session sauna packages that are fully funded. These include swimwear and companion tickets for those who need extra support.

Pricing

We aim to be as affordable as possible whilst still being able to offer both concessions and free sessions via our social prescribing scheme and outreach.

Social Prescribing & Outreach

At Community Sauna Baths, we believe that everyone should have access to warmth, rest, and connection, especially those facing health challenges or barriers to wellbeing.

Through our social prescribing and outreach programme, we partner with NHS teams, GPs, and local organisations to offer fully funded sauna and cold plunge sessions to those who need them most.

Each referral includes:

a 10-session sauna package
access to special events and group sessions
a welcome cup of tea
optional support with swimwear, booking help, and companion tickets for those with mobility or access needs

We've already welcomed over 250+ individuals through the programme and continue to work with an amazing network of local partners to expand access.

We also operate Sauna for Community, providing tailored group sessions in collaboration with charities and community groups, many of which are gender-specific, culturally sensitive, and designed around participants’ needs. Transportation and accessible facilities are provided to help everyone participate.
